Martha's Record

● Since first being elected in 2017 as Executive Officer, and the last two years as a Vice President of the Provincial Executive, Martha has been committed to bringing District and Bargaining Unit leaders together when the union was dealing with difficult issues and has provided local leaders with a voice in the development of provincial strategies including widespread consultation on the development of the Strategic Action Plan.
● As Vice-President, Martha has taken bold, decisive steps to introduce transformational change for OSSTF/FEESO. In 2022, Martha co-authored the Building Stronger Schools and Communities section of the Strategic Action Plan. She believes that the future of the Federation will only be successful if we connect withour members and the communities they live in to continue to defend public education. Martha believes that by supporting our local leaders and funding the necessary infrastructure, OSSTF/FEESO will be able to mobilize our members and our communities to defend publicly funded education in Ontario.
● As Vice-President assigned to the Ontario Federation of Labour, Martha acted on behalf of OSSTF/FEESO and voted in favour of participation in mass mobilization to push back against Bill 28 and the use of the notwithstanding clause.
● Martha has always encouraged and advocated for the input and involvement from our Members, Districts, and Bargaining Units. Martha values the direction given by members and local leaders. She understands that the strength and effectiveness of our union are the dedication and commitment of our members.
● Martha is committed to a democratic organization that encourages and fosters open debate and discussion. She understands that reasonable minds can differ, but it is also crucial that every member’s opinion is respected. Martha believes that debate and democracy makes us stronger and is the cornerstone of a vibrant OSSTF/FEESO.

Martha is a strong leader who has delivered and continues to be the right choice for Vice President.
