Open Letter to AMPA Representatives
Dear AMPA Representatives,
I am thrilled to officially announce my candidacy for the position of President of OSSTF/FEESO at AMPA 2025.
This election represents a pivotal moment for our union, and I am stepping forward because I believe OSSTF/FEESO needs transformative leadership—leadership that embodies fresh energy, innovative perspectives, and an unwavering commitment to the collective interests of our members.
Throughout our proud history, OSSTF/FEESO has accomplished remarkable achievements under the guidance of past presidents who fought hard for progress and delivered meaningful gains. As we look to the future, the challenges ahead call for a leader who understands the power of solidarity, has a proven record of building alliances within the labour movement, and places the needs of our members and OSSTF/FEESO at the forefront.
A Vision Rooted in Solidarity and Collaboration
Our union’s strength lies in our ability to forge connections—within our membership and beyond. As President, I will prioritize building and maintaining strategic alliances across sectors—with other unions, parents, and community members. Collaboration with Ontario’s education unions is critical to our success at the bargaining table. Together, we can harness the collective power of the entire education sector to secure the best possible outcomes for OSSTF/FEESO members.
During my two terms as Vice President, I successfully led the Better Schools, Stronger Communities Strategic Action Plan, a grassroots initiative focused on solidarity and member mobilization. This forward-looking plan empowers our members in their workplaces and will reinforce OSSTF/FEESO’s historic strength at the bargaining table.
A Proven Advocate for Labour
My experience extends beyond OSSTF/FEESO. As an activist with the Windsor and District Labour Council and as Vice President on the Ontario Federation of Labour Executive Board, I have demonstrated my commitment to strengthening ties across the labour movement. I understand that broad-based support is key to securing improved funding for publicly funded education and better working conditions for all. As President, I will reinvigorate these relationships, ensuring we stand in solidarity with other unions and advocates to fight for well-funded public services and equitable conditions for all workers.
United for a Stronger Future
I have always recognized the invaluable contributions of every member of the education team—teachers, education workers, and support staff—who together make Ontario’s education system one of the best in the world. Under my leadership, we will leverage our collective strength to address the challenges that teachers, and education workers face and advocate fearlessly for the future of education, our students, and our profession.
With your support, we can build a fearless, unstoppable OSSTF/FEESO that takes bold steps toward a brighter future. Together, we will champion the issues that matter most to our members, ensuring that we remain a powerful voice for public education and the communities we serve.
Let’s seize this moment. Let’s take bold steps together.
In solidarity,
Martha Hradowy
